Our Past

A journey through stories and traditions

Our history is intertwined with passion, dedication and the art of roasting. For over a century, Caffè Ginevra has been a symbol of excellence and tradition, carrying on the values and techniques that Massimino Ginevra passed on to his family.

The Beginning of a Great Story

In 1923, Cavaliere Massimino Ginevra founded Caffè Ginevra with a clear vision: to create coffee of superior quality.

The art of coffee roasting was not just a trade for Massimino, but a true vocation. Every day, he carefully selected the best coffee beans, processing them with almost maniacal precision. For Massimino, every cup of coffee had to tell a story, a story of quality and perfection.

Thanks to his dedication, the blend created by Massimino did not take long to become known beyond the local borders. His coffee became synonymous with excellence, appreciated not only for its unique taste, but also for its distinctive personality.

The Art of the Coffee Roaster

For Massimino Ginevra, the art of roasting was more than just a job: it was an art form that required passion, patience and a deep understanding of coffee. Every coffee bean tells a different story, and Massimino was determined to reveal every nuance of this story through the roasting process.

The selection of the beans was the first crucial step. Massimino travelled far and wide to find the best coffee beans. He paid attention to every detail, from colour to texture, to ensure that only the best beans went into his roasting machine.

Roasting was the moment when Massimino's art was at its best. Using a hand roaster, he carefully controlled the process, adjusting the time and temperature with maniacal precision. He knew that every little change could affect the final taste of the coffee, which is why he spent as much time as necessary to achieve the perfect roast.

His secret blend, later handed down to his son Pietro, was the result of years of experimentation and refinement. Each cup of Caffè Ginevra was to be a unique experience, capable of evoking emotions and memories through its aromas and flavours.

Pietro Ginevra: a tradition that continues

Massimino's son, Pietro Ginevra, inherited not only the family business, but also the passion and dedication for coffee. Growing up next to his father, Pietro learnt the art of coffee roasting at an early age. Under his father's expert guidance, Pietro honed his skills, learning to recognise the finer nuances of coffee beans and perfecting the art of roasting.

When Massimino passed the baton to Pietro, the Ginevra family tradition was enriched with a new energy and innovative vision. Pietro introduced new processing techniques and invested in advanced technology to ensure that every stage of the production process was state-of-the-art, while respecting the old family traditions. His ability to innovate without ever losing sight of his artisan roots has allowed Caffè Ginevra to grow and prosper, becoming an internationally recognised and appreciated brand.

A Family Tradition

Pietro Ginevra has continued to carry on his father's legacy with the support of his family. Married to Mariagrazia Ginevra, now the company's director, Pietro has seen the family business grow thanks also to the invaluable contribution of his wife. Mariagrazia, with her vision and commitment, has brought innovation and modernity, while keeping alive the traditional values that characterise Caffè Ginevra.

Together, Pietro and Mariagrazia had a daughter, Laura Ginevra, who is now responsible for sales and international relations. Laura has brought new energy and a global vision to the company, helping to make Caffè Ginevra known beyond national borders. The family successfully manages not only the company, but also a store in Caltanissetta, where customers can enjoy a unique experience, discovering the excellence of their coffee directly from the source.

A Century of Excellence

In 2023, Caffè Ginevra celebrated an extraordinary milestone: 100 years in business. To celebrate this important anniversary, we organised a big party at our store in Caltanissetta. It was an unforgettable occasion to bring together family, friends, loyal customers and all those who have contributed to our success.

During the celebration, we retraced our history, fondly remembering the founder, Cavaliere Massimino Ginevra. His spirit, dedication and passion for coffee were at the heart of the celebrations. We shared anecdotes and memories, toasting a century of excellence and looking to the future with enthusiasm and hope. It was a moment of great emotion and pride for the entire Ginevra family.
